Today was the very first day of Advanced Baking II, and I already cannot wait to get started with all of the fun baking we will be doing this semester!  Chef Mary Helen told us that we will have to design six, themed cupcakes and a three tier wedding cake to match! I am so excited about being able to design my own cupcakes and cake. Normally when I make cakes and cupcakes for people, they tell me exactly what they want me to make, but this time, I will be able to experiment and design my very first cake all by myself! My first thought is to do something whimsical and outdoorsy. I am really thinking about incorporating a tree and forest animals of some kind, but I have a lot more thinking to do before making up my mind for sure!

I’ll also be working on this blog once again for advanced baking!

Next week, we won’t be having advanced baking because it is Prostart Day in the culinary department! Over 300 high school students will be coming to tour campus, listen to our instructors talk about our wonderful department and school, and watch Kimberly and me do demos. Kimberly is doing a yummy fruit salsa, and I am going to do some sort of cake demo! I really need to decide for sure what kind of cake I am doing so that Chef can order all the ingredients I need. I hope it turns out well!
